Title:
Club Leader
Internship Description / Learning Objectives:
- Club Leaders will gain hands‑on leadership experience by supporting Carnegie Writers' literacy‑focused summer programs for youth.
- Participants will develop critical skills in mentoring, communication, project facilitation, and teamwork while fostering a positive, engaging environment for younger program participants.
Job Duties:
- Assist Literacy Facilitators in leading literacy‑focused activities for Carnegie Kids' Club (ages 6‑11).
- Mentor and support younger participants during reading and writing exercises, enrichment activities, and anthology development.
- Help participants brainstorm, draft, and edit written pieces for in‑person collaborative publications.
- Aid in the preparation and execution of program events, including field trips and special projects.
- Serve as positive role models for participants by promoting a love of reading and writing.

Work Schedule Days and
Hours:
Monday – Friday, 9 am – 1 pm
Dress Code: Business Casual
Travel Required: Yes, for field trips and program events.
Physical Requirements: Primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activities during field trips.

Program ScheduleJune 1st – July 17th
June 1st – June 3rd:
Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.
June 4th: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport.
June 5th – July 17th:
Team Members on site at their agencies Monday‑Friday at the scheduled time.
Scheduled to work 4 hours daily, which equals 20 hours per week.
July 13th – July 17th: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program – End of Summer Celebration;
Team Members can showcase their projects.
If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project‑based employment for youth ages 14‑15.
Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.
