Openings: 6
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7.5 hours/day
Contract Duration: 01/05/2026 - 05/30/2026
Job Profile / Job Description
The Substitute Teacher will support daily classroom instruction and student supervision at the Tennessee School for the Blind. This role ensures continuity of learning by following established lesson plans, maintaining routines, and fostering a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment. Candidates should be dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working with students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the educational office at the start and end of each day.
- Follow teacher-provided lesson plans and complete assigned classroom duties.
- Supervise students at all times and maintain standard classroom routines.
- Assist with school duties including lunchroom, hall monitoring, bus duty, or other tasks as assigned.
- Review emergency procedures and student medical details in the classroom's substitute folder.
- Maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
- Report major disciplinary issues to administration promptly.
- Ensure confidentiality of student information at all times.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two years of college or a Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
- Dependable, punctual, and flexible.
- Ability to follow directions and adjust to dynamic classroom needs.
- Basic computer skills.
- Positive attitude, sound judgment, teamwork, and professionalism
