Associate—Classroom works directly in a classroom to cover vacancies when teachers are absent or on leave. They must be flexible to fill short‑term or long‑term needs, providing lesson plans, supervision, proctoring, grading, attending parent conferences, collaborating with instructional teams, and other related duties.
What you will do- Perform various instructional support tasks as assigned to facilitate effective teaching and maintain an appropriate classroom environment. Provide tutoring/intervention services for students as needed.
- Work with instructional leaders to plan daily lessons to meet all students' needs and adapt teaching methods and materials.
- Follow daily schedule, class rolls, lesson plans, and other information provided by the classroom teacher or school administration. Proctor and grade examinations or lessons and enter results into records. Record attendance per school policy.
- Establish and enforce rules of behavior and procedures to maintain effective classroom management, encouraging student participation and minimizing distractions.
- Participate in meetings and assist with school events as required.
- Supervise students both in and out of the classroom.
- Establish and maintain respectful working relationships and comply with all MNPS policies, and state and federal laws.
- Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited institution verified by an original transcript.
- 1‑3 years of work experience.
- Communicate orally and in writing with students, parents, and others.
- Plan, organize, and establish priorities related to assignments.
- Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.
- Handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Know school board policies and practices related to teaching.
- Handle problems, concerns, and emotional distress with sensitivity and tact.
- Maintain appropriate student supervision for a safe learning environment.
- Assist in writing and following through with Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.
- Work effectively with peers, administrators, and others.
- Work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Handle multiple tasks professionally and courteously.
- Answer telephone calls professionally and courteously.
