Assistant Professor of Practice with Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN)

Overview

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of the Practice position to teach core undergraduate engineering courses. Teach and deliver undergraduate-level courses with three weekly 50-minute lectures or semester-based modules. Develop course materials, assessments, and project-based learning experiences. Provide academic support and mentorship to a diverse population of engineering and non-engineering students.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain and improve the undergraduate curriculum.

Courses Taught
  • Digital Systems – Introduction to digital circuit fundamentals, including binary numbers, Boolean algebra, combinational and sequential circuits, and processor performance analysis.
  • Control Systems I – Introduction to control system technology, mathematical models for feedback systems, transient and steady-state analysis, root locus, PID controller design, and frequency response.
  • Control Systems II – Advanced course covering state-space modeling, full-state feedback design, digital control methods, fuzzy logic, and nonlinear control systems.
  • Introduction to Engineering Modules – First-year engineering course on electricity, circuits, and the engineering design process, culminating in a hands‑on design project.
Requirements
  • Requires a Ph.D. in Digital Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • Position requires 1 year of teaching experience.
