The Lipscomb Academy Academic Support Program is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as the Academic Support Reading Interventionist at the Middle School. This person will work under the direction of the Director of Academic Support, providing reading intervention to identified students.
Typical
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted reading instruction and support to students struggling with specific concepts.
- Provide direct instruction to eligible students individually or in small groups to help them improve specific reading skills.
- Uses identified research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student needs.
- Wilson Reading Program and/or Orton-Gillingham training/certification.
- Ability to assess, prescribe, and evaluate the reading needs of individual students to determine the level of need.
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
- Working collaboratively with teachers to improve student outcomes and close achievement gaps in grades 6-8.
- Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress.
- Maintain the confidentiality of student education records. Student education records include all records, files, documents, and other materials that contain personally identifiable information on any student.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Academic Support.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Patience, creativity, optimism, resilience and adaptability.
- Experience teaching a variety of learning levels to target specific deficit areas.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with various school constituents.
- Proficient technology skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Well-versed in educational best practices for teaching middle school students.
Education Required:
Bachelor's or better.
