Overview

University School of Nashville is seeking a High School Math teacher for the  school year. This is a part-time, exempt position for the  school year.

Responsibilities
  • Teach two sections of mathematics (likely sections of Algebra II or Precalculus).
  • Participate collegially in meetings and initiatives of the mathematics department and of the high school faculty.
  • Take an active role in the life of the school community.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field.
  • High school or college teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach a range of levels.
  • Appreciation for high school students and experience in a diverse school community.

University School of Nashville is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational day school with enrollment of 1,080 students kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school emphasizes equitable and just teaching and learning practices and values professional growth for faculty.

  • Hours:

    Full-time classroom teachers are expected to work from 7:30 p.m to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; includes attendance and routine administrative duties

Candidates should be knowledgeable of research on how implicit biases in race, ethnicity, gender identity and socioeconomic class can shape curricula and pedagogy, and should be able to translate that knowledge into actions that promote equitable teaching and learning.
