Pay: $29.00–$29.41 per hour

Schedule:

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (7.5-hour workday)

Contract:

August 24, 2026 – February 26, 2027

The Tennessee School for the Blind is hiring a Spanish Teacher to provide Spanish instruction to K–12 students who are visually impaired, including students with additional disabilities. This position works closely with school staff, students, and families to support student learning and success.

• Teach Spanish to K–12 students.
• Create lesson plans that meet Tennessee State Standards and student IEPs.
• Adapt lessons and materials to meet student needs.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Use classroom and assistive technology.
• Track student progress and maintain records.
• Work with parents and school staff.
• Attend meetings, training, and school events.
• Supervise field trips and other school activities as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Education.
• Tennessee teaching license (or eligibility) with a Spanish endorsement.
• Knowledge of Tennessee State Standards and IEPs.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and teamwork skills.

Preferred:

• Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification or willingness to obtain it within five years.

• Pass TBI/FBI fingerprinting and background checks.
• Meet all State of Tennessee employment requirements.
• Participate in direct deposit.
• Follow Drug-Free Workplace and tobacco-free campus policies.
