Position: Private Tutor: Middle School (ELA, Math & Executive Functioning)

Role Overview

Thrive Education Partners is seeking an exceptional Middle School Tutor to join our growing team of educators. This role offers the opportunity to build a consistent roster of students over time, with assignments matched to your availability, expertise, and location.

This role is designed for an educator who believes that meaningful learning happens through strong relationships, thoughtful instruction, and individualized support. You'll work one-on-one with middle school students, helping them strengthen academic skills while building the confidence, organization, and independence they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

We're looking for someone who is polished, highly organized, intellectually curious, and genuinely enjoys partnering with students and families. If you love tailoring your teaching to each learner, take pride in your professionalism, and find purpose in helping students grow over time, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do
  • Provide engaging, one-on-one instruction in middle school English Language Arts and/or mathematics.
  • Design personalized lessons that strengthen foundational skills while supporting each student's long-term academic growth.
  • Explicitly teach executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, time management, study strategies, and self-advocacy.
  • Adapt your instruction to each student's learning style, strengths, and areas for growth.
  • Build students' confidence while maintaining appropriately high expectations and encouraging increasing independence.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on ongoing assessment and observation.
  • Communicate professionally with families, sharing thoughtful updates, insights, and recommendations that support continued growth.
  • Prepare lessons, organize instructional materials, and manage academic planning with care and attention to detail.
What Makes Someone Successful

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Build authentic relationships with students while providing clear structure and accountability.
  • Enjoy personalizing instruction rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
  • Are patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in helping students become more capable and confident learners.
  • Have strong executive functioning yourself and can model organization, planning, and follow-through.
  • Communicate professionally and proactively with both students and families.
  • Bring warmth, discretion, reliability, and excellent judgment to every interaction.
Why Thrive

At Thrive Education Partners, we believe exceptional educators can transform a student's relationship with learning. Our tutors do far more than help with homework—they build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and help students become more independent learners.

As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with thoughtfully matched students, develop lasting relationships with families, and expand your schedule with additional placements that fit your availability and expertise. We value educators who are committed to excellence, passionate about individualized instruction, and excited to make a meaningful impact one student at a time.

  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Available to commit to a consistent weekly weekend tutoring schedule with reliable in-person availability in the greater Nashville area.
