Youth Development, Career & Life Skills Coaching
Children may not recall every lesson, but they'll always remember the adult who had faith in them. That's what this role is about.
At Alpha, academic work is completed in just two hours each day through adaptive learning technology. This structure allows Guides to dedicate their energy to the work that truly transforms lives: cultivating confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to take on difficult challenges. You won't be delivering lessons from the front of a classroom. Instead, you'll coach students through obstacles, acknowledge their successes, and demonstrate what rigorous standards look like when combined with authentic belief.
You’ll guide one K‑3 cohort band—either Kindergarten‑1st grade or 2nd‑3rd grade. Half of your time will be spent facilitating dynamic, one‑hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and giving and receiving feedback. The remaining half involves coaching students both individually and in small groups, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every child progresses toward ambitious weekly objectives. Every moment counts.
Students should emerge from your workshops with greater capability and leave your coaching sessions believing they can accomplish more than they previously imagined.
This position is not suited for someone seeking to deliver curriculum or manage a traditional classroom. It's designed for someone who is passionate about motivating young children, energized by measurable results, and convinced that the right coach can alter a child's path. If you've inspired children as a teacher, coach, camp counselor, youth leader, or performer, you'll discover a very different kind of educational environment here.
This is a full‑time, on‑site position at one of Alpha's campuses. We recruit on a national basis, so job boards may show this opportunity in nearby cities without a campus.

- Facilitate engaging life‑skills workshops that enable K-3 students to develop communication, focus, feedback, and other enduring skills through active involvement rather than passive instruction.
- Provide one‑on‑one and small group coaching, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation systems, and strong student relationships to ensure every child remains on pace for ambitious weekly learning objectives.
- Evaluate life‑skill proficiency using Alpha's Test2
Pass framework, coaching students until they show genuine mastery—not merely attendance. - Adjust your coaching approach to match the developmental stage of your cohort, whether that involves songs, physical activity, and narratives for younger students or increased independence and responsibility for older learners.
- Cultivate relationships where students feel secure enough to push beyond what they believed they were capable of achieving.
- Delivering academic lessons from a whiteboard. Academic learning occurs through adaptive software.
- Creating curriculum from the ground up. You'll refine and customize proven playbooks rather than designing lessons from scratch.
- Supervising students as they work quietly on computers. Your role centers on active coaching, motivation, and meaningful connection.
- Reducing expectations when students face difficulties. Success means helping students meet the goal, not adjusting the goal downward.
- Overseeing homework, grading assignments, or managing routine parent communications.
