The Youth Education Professional (YEP) supports the academic success, personal development, and engagement of Club members. This position leads high-quality educational programming, establishes consistent academic routines, monitors student participation and progress, and helps create an environment where young people feel supported and motivated to learn.
The YEP works closely with Club leadership, program staff, families, schools, tutors, interns, and the Director of Reading to ensure that academic programming is organized, engaging, and responsive to student needs.
Hours: M-F, 2:30pm-6:30pm
Reports To: Director of Reading and Club Leadership
Classification: Part-Time
Starting Pay: $18 per hour; higher rates may apply based on education and assigned responsibilities
Locations Available: Andrew Jackson Club House, Chadwell Elementary School. Eagleview Elementary School.
Job ResponsibilitiesAcademic Programming
- Plan, prepare, and lead structured academic programming for Club members.
- Establish and maintain a consistent daily Power Hour.
- Facilitate tutoring, homework help, Brain Snacks, Moby Max, academic programming, and other assigned educational activities.
- Adapt activities for different ages, skill levels, learning needs, and levels of independence.
- Ensure academic programming is engaging, purposeful, and connected to the Five Readys:
Ready to Read, Ready for Class, Ready to Graduate, Ready to Career, and Ready to Thrive. - Provide enrichment and meaningful learning opportunities for members who are not participating in tutoring or targeted intervention.
- Promote reading, writing, problem-solving, creativity, and student leadership throughout the Club.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational, youth-development, childcare, tutoring, or after-school setting preferred.
- Ability to lead activities and manage groups of students effectively.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Basic proficiency with computers, educational technology, email, and digital recordkeeping.
- Ability to review program information and use data to guide student support.
- Dependable, professional, flexible, and able to meet established deadlines.
- Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and organizational training.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, child development, social work, psychology, youth development, or a related field.
- Experience providing literacy, math, tutoring, intervention, or homework support.
- Experience using Moby Max or another digital learning platform.
- Knowledge of positive behavior supports, differentiated instruction, and youth-development practices.
- Experience collaborating with schools, families, interns, volunteers, or community partners.
- Ability to work during assigned after-school and Club operating hours.
- Ability to move throughout the Club, actively supervise members, and participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Ability to lift and carry program supplies and equipment of approximately 25 pounds.
- Occasional evening, family-engagement, training, or special-event hours may be required.
