Job Overview
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Belmont University is seeking applications for one or more one-year lecturer positions beginning August 1, 2026. Depending on performance and university/department needs, the position(s) could be extended for additional years.

HoursTwenty‑four hours of undergraduate teaching per year (typically four three‑hour courses each semester).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in mathematics and related areas, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in teaching.
- Prepare and deliver graduate‑level coursework (at least 18 graduate‑level credit hours); teaching experience preferred.
- Design and maintain interdisciplinary and topical courses for the university’s general education program.
- Create course syllabi, timelines, and provide scheduled meeting times for students.
- Manage online grading systems and submit grades in a timely fashion.
- Abide by all relevant university and/or department procedures and policies.
- Master’s degree with 18 hours of graduate‑level mathematics courses.
- Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the field of study.
- Knowledge of subject matter and course content taught.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to support, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
- Skilled in use of computers, Internet resources, and MS Office software.
- Ability to learn Banner Web, Belmont University’s online integrated database system for student grading.
- Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
- Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and representatives of the institution, and the general public in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the programs and services offered by Belmont University.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
- Higher-education teaching experience.
- Completion of a satisfactory background check.
