Position Summary

STEM Preparatory Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced Health Science CTE Instructor – Medical Assisting to lead our high school healthcare pathway program.

This role is designed for a healthcare professional who wants to transition their clinical expertise into the classroom and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will bring real-world medical experience and a passion for developing students through hands‑on instruction, industry preparation, and mentorship.

The Health Science CTE Instructor will prepare students for careers in healthcare while supporting successful completion of Tennessee Health Science pathway coursework and industry‑recognized certifications, including opportunities to earn credentials such as the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification.

Your Role as a Health Science CTE Instructor Planning & Instruction
  • Teach Tennessee-approved Health Science CTE curriculum focused on:
    • Anatomy and physiology
    • Medical terminology
    • Healthcare careers
    • Patient care procedures
    • Medical office operations
    • Healthcare ethics and professionalism
  • Teach 3 of 4 classes on an alternating A/B 90-minute block schedule.
  • Facilitate one 30-minute Personalized Learning Time (PLT) block focused on intervention, enrichment, skill development, or student support.
  • Develop rigorous lesson plans aligned to Tennessee CTE standards.
  • Submit weekly lesson plan arcs with clear objectives, assessments, and student exemplars.
  • Collaborate with CTE team members through:
    • Department planning
    • Coaching meetings
    • Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
    • Data-driven instructional planning
  • Monitor student progress through academic and industry skill assessments.
Clinical & Technical Skills Instruction

The Health Science CTE Instructor will provide hands‑on instruction and assessment of healthcare skills, including:

  • Vital signs collection and patient assessment
  • Infection control procedures
  • Medical safety practices
  • Phlebotomy techniques
  • EKG placement and procedures
  • Patient communication and professionalism
  • Clinical documentation
  • Healthcare workplace expectations

The instructor will create a classroom environment that mirrors professional healthcare settings while ensuring students develop confidence and technical competency.

Medical Administrative Training

Students will receive instruction in:

  • Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Medical office procedures
  • Patient scheduling
  • Insurance and healthcare documentation
  • HIPAA compliance and patient privacy
  • Professional communication skills
Work-Based Learning & Industry Partnerships

The Health Science CTE Instructor will:

  • Develop partnerships with local healthcare organizations.
  • Coordinate job shadowing experiences, internships, and clinical opportunities.
  • Support students participating in healthcare‑related career experiences.
  • Connect classroom learning to real‑world healthcare careers.
