Our organization is dedicated to supporting refugee children and youth by helping them heal, learn, and direct their futures in positive ways. We respond to a global crisis in which millions of people, including many school-age children, have been displaced and face significant barriers to education and stability. In Nashville, TN, we serve a large and diverse refugee community, focusing on students who are English language learners and have experienced interrupted education.

Our programs provide academic intervention, social-emotional learning, mentorship, and spiritual guidance through after-school and summer initiatives. The Street Leader program specifically employs high school refugee students as leaders and mentors, offering them paid work experience, leadership training, spiritual development, college counseling, and individualized support.

The Street Leader Coordinator is a full-time (30+ hours), on-site role based in Nashville, TN, responsible for overseeing and supporting high school refugee students employed in the Street Leader program. The coordinator supports Street Leaders through mentoring activities, leadership development sessions, and training so they can serve effectively in after-school and summer camp environments. This role includes scheduling shifts, supervising Street Leaders during program hours, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment.

The coordinator collaborates with staff to align Street Leader responsibilities with academic intervention, social-emotional learning, and spiritual guidance goals for younger students. Daily tasks also involve building strong relationships with youth and families, tracking progress and attendance, maintaining clear documentation, and communicating program updates to internal teams and community partners.

• Ability to mentor and guide high school youth, with skills in youth development, leadership coaching, and positive relationship-building.
• Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including sensitivity to trauma, displacement, and cross-cultural communication is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle scheduling, supervision, record-keeping, and coordination of daily program activities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for engaging students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
• Capacity to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that aligns with the organization’s mission and values.
• Experience in education, youth programs, social services, or community outreach is strongly preferred.
• Comfort working in faith-informed settings while maintaining respect for diverse beliefs and backgrounds.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, youth development, or a related field is preferred.
