Harding Academy is a warm and caring independent, co‑educational school in Nashville, TN, serving students from Pre‑K through Grade 8. The Pursuit after‑school program offers care and enrichment for children ages 4 to 14, welcoming approximately 80‑120 students each day.
PositionPart‑Time – Hourly – Non‑Exempt (Flexible up to 20 hours per week)
Pay- In‑progress high school: $12.00 /hr
- Some college / childcare experience: $14 – $16 /hr
- College degree / teaching or extended childcare experience: $17 – $20 /hr
- Monday‑Friday 2:00 – 6:00PM (school in session)
- Wednesdays 7:30 – 8:30AM (early‑morning program, 2× hourly rate)
- Special August hours:
- 8/4 – 8/12: 7:30AM – 3:45PM
- 8/13 – 8/15: 11:30AM – 6:00PM
- 8/18 – 8/22: 2:30PM – 6:00PM
- Monthly Pursuit Night Out events (Fridays 6:00‑9:30PM, 2‑4 per year, 2× hourly rate)
- Supervise children in Pre‑K through Grade 5 during after‑school hours.
- Create a safe, clean, and respectful environment for all students.
- Plan and facilitate games, crafts, art activities, sports, and general logistics.
- Assist with homework and academic support.
- Support early‑morning program on Wednesdays when requested.
- Provide guidance and conflict resolution among students.
- Minimum 1 year of childcare experience (preferred).
- In‑progress high‑school or college degree, or college degree with teaching experience.
- Preferred major in Education.
- Reliable transportation to campus.
- First Aid and CPR certifications (preferred).
- Child behavior, development, and learning patterns (preferred).
- Basic child health and safety standards (preferred).
- Awareness of diverse cultural communities and backgrounds.
- Model positive behavior and lead with patience, playfulness, curiosity, and tact.
- Oversee and monitor students in Pre‑K through Grade 5.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Recognize conflict and provide guidance and coping skills.
- Interact effectively with individuals, small groups, and large groups of students.
- Understand and relate to children.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Learn, follow, and explain school rules, regulations and daily practices of Harding and Pursuit programs.
- Collaborate with the Pursuit team and work respectfully with Harding faculty, students, and parents.
The employee regularly speaks, hears, stands, walks, sits, uses hands to handle or grasp items, and reaches with arms. Occasionally the employee may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
