Company Description Two Roots Montessori is a values-driven Montessori school in Nashville, Tennessee, serving children from 6 weeks through 6th grade. Co-founded by two experienced educators and caregivers, the school offers a nurturing, carefully prepared environment that supports independence, curiosity, and a strong sense of community. Guided by Montessori principles, Two Roots Montessori is committed to honoring each child’s unique developmental path.

The school partners closely with families to provide high-quality, intentional education and holistic support for children’s growth.

Role Description The Montessori Guide is a full-time, on-site role based in Nashville, TN. In this position, the Guide prepares and maintains a Montessori classroom environment, presents lessons and materials in alignment with Montessori pedagogy, and observes each child to support individualized learning and development. Daily responsibilities include guiding children through self-directed activities, fostering social-emotional skills, ensuring safety and well-being, and collaborating with colleagues to uphold a cohesive educational approach.

The Guide also communicates regularly with families, documents student progress, and participates in school-wide events, meetings, and ongoing professional development. This role requires consistent engagement in creating a calm, respectful, and inclusive community for children and adults.

Qualifications

  • Formal Montessori training and credential (AMS, AMI, or equivalent) appropriate to the age group; experience as a Montessori Guide or Assistant in a classroom setting.
  • Strong skills in observation, classroom management, lesson planning, and maintaining a prepared environment that supports independence and purposeful work.
  • Demonstrated ability to nurture social-emotional development, guide conflict resolution, and support respectful, collaborative relationships among children.
  • Clear, compassionate communication skills with children, families, and colleagues; ability to provide constructive feedback and regular updates on student progress.
  • Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and culturally responsive education; openness to ongoing learning and professional growth.
  • Ability to work on-site in Nashville, TN, with reliability, flexibility, and professionalism; capacity to meet the physical demands of an active classroom environment.
  • Relevant degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred; background checks and compliance with local licensing and safety requirements.
