Program Assistant, Before and After School Programs

Join our team in supporting student success beyond the school day. The Program Assistant works directly with students in Pre-K through 4th grade, helping create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment. This role assists with academic enrichment, student supervision, and the implementation of educational and recreational activities that promote the whole child's development. This is a 10-month work schedule.

Job Responsibilities What You'll Do
  • Supervise and engage students during before and after school programming.
  • Support instructional activities and program implementation under the guidance of the Site Supervisor.
  • Provide individual and small-group tutoring to reinforce academic standards and learning objectives.
  • Support diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with physical, developmental, or learning disabilities.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment by following all district, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  • Monitor student behavior and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Prepare lesson materials, classroom displays, equipment, and activity spaces.
  • Facilitate activities that promote academic growth, creativity, health and wellness, and social-emotional learning.
  • Participate in required professional development, meetings, and training activities.
  • Model best practices in youth development, instruction, and grant-funded program implementation.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, youth development, or early childhood setting required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented work ethic.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and effective student engagement strategies.
  • Familiarity with Department of Human Services regulations and guidelines related to childcare and early childhood programs preferred.
  • Ability to support students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
