Overview

The Manager of Work-Based Learning (WBL) will support the expansion of high-quality, career-connected learning opportunities for students across the state. This role focuses on strengthening district capacity to implement impactful WBL programs through close collaboration with schools, districts, and industry partners. Ideal candidates will have experience in WBL program design, education-industry collaboration, and district engagement to advance scalable, student-centered career learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create capacity-building resources related to WBL experiences that increase student workforce participation and generate impactful systemic change across schools and districts
  • Deliver presentations about Tennessee's WBL Framework, Child Labor Act, the WBL Policy Guide, and Tennessee State Board of Education Rules and Policies
  • Implement project management strategies including the modification of action steps, budget oversight, and progress monitoring and reporting
  • Conduct landscape analysis of existing WBL programs to identify gaps in participation, deficiencies in LEA WBL strategies, and inefficiencies in program implementation
  • Respond to stakeholder inquiries related to WBL best practices and implementation
  • Navigate and manage multiple projects, deliverables, and assignments seamlessly and simultaneously
  • Guide school and district leaders in the achievement of strategic divisional and agency goals
  • Facilitate presentations to school and LEA leaders during CTE Director Meetings and other related conferences
  • Demonstrate effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and experience equivalent to substantial (five or more years of) full-time professional educational or instructional work, including at least two years of supervisory/administrative or advisory work. Substitution of Education for

Experience:

Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years, there being no substitution for the required two years of specialized experience. OR One year of experience as an Education Consultant 2 with the State of Tennessee.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Three years of leadership experience, preferably in Education, at the school, district, or state level.
  • Experience in project management, as well as experience using data to drive systemic and organizational improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
