Summary

The Pipeline Safety Compliance Specialist is responsible for being the work management system subject‑matter resource for pipeline safety compliance program monitoring and reporting, creating and maintaining preventive maintenance plans for new and existing field equipment, supporting GIS pipeline safety applications and engaging with the Tennessee Public Utilities Commission (TPUC) Pipeline Safety Staff in inspections, investigations and inquiries to ensure compliance deadlines are met.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Function as the department’s designated subject‑matter resource for the company’s work management system to manage pipeline safety compliance programs
  • Review pending and completed work in the company’s work management system to ensure pipeline safety compliance deadlines are met
  • Develop and provide work management system‑based reports and summaries to Field Operations and TPUC staff related to preparation and participation in the company’s PSC pipeline safety inspections, investigations and inquiries and completion of appropriate responses
  • Create and maintain preventive maintenance plans for new and existing field equipment, including valves and regulators, to ensure inspection timelines are met
  • Support pipeline safety applications in GIS as needed
  • Partner with Field Operations and Operations Support to monitor progress and resolve any issues related to compliance programs
  • Coordinate the company’s pipeline safety initiatives through interacting with the TPCU Pipeline Safety Staff, other gas utility representatives, and material/equipment vendors as needed
  • Lead the effort in submittal of various state and federal regulatory reports and documentation as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
  • Technical College Degree (Engineering, GIS, or equivalent) with five years’ experience in Field Operations required or at least ten years of Field Operations without degree required
  • Valid driver’s license
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
  • Strong technology knowledge and proficiency including Excel, work management and reporting systems and GIS (required)
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and regulatory code pertinent to pipelines and natural gas operations including 49 CFR Parts 191 and 192 and any related state regulation (required)
