The successful candidate will lead teams in providing structural analyses, design, and final bridge construction plans for prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and structural steel bridges in accordance with the latest TDOT and AASHTO design criteria.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead bridge inspection, structural analysis, and repair planning, including Bridge Load Ratings, per TDOT and AASHTO specifications.
• Direct the development of models, drawings, and specifications; arrange and lay out structural systems for strength, stability, constructability, and economy.
• Review design and quantity calculations for compliance with TDOT design criteria.
• Coordinate bridge design with other engineering disciplines and ensure firm policies and practices are followed.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client RFPs; review draft proposals for regulatory compliance.
• Meet with current and potential clients to discuss design needs; attend conferences or symposia to promote the firm’s products and services.
• Clarify technical questions with clients and government officials and provide updates to project management as required.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior staff and supervise their work on projects.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering/Structural.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Tennessee.

Approximately 15% travel.

• Expert knowledge of CADD 3D/4D software and drafting practices.
• Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ability to arrange/layout structural systems for strength, stability, constructability, and economy.
• Expert knowledge of engineering analysis/design software (AASHTOWare BrR, Bentley Open Bridge Designer, FEM Software).
