Position: Technical Specialist 1 - Odor and Corrosion Control

The Technical Specialist 1 performs specialized tasks, methods, procedures, and computations to support odor and corrosion control throughout the collection system. Serves as department expert in odor and corrosion control. Performs related duties as required.

Employees at Metro Water Services (MWS) work around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high-quality drinking water and the best in wastewater treatment and stormwater management. Our employees work together to service more than 210,000 water and 216,000 sewer accounts.

We are looking for highly engaged individuals to join our team.

  • Interprets, selects, adapts, and applies technical guidelines, principles, and practices for the management and mitigation of odor and corrosion control within the collection system.
  • Coordinates programs, projects, staff, and/or processes in the following areas:
    Inspection/construction;
    Installation/maintenance/repair; right-of-way permitting, or other technical areas.
  • Performs administrative duties.
  • Keeps abreast of new trends and/or developments in odor and corrosion control.
  • May supervise or lead work of sub-professional, and/or clerical support personnel.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by job related technical education as described in the position announcement and four (4) years of responsible experience in the management of odor and corrosion control.

LICENSES REQUIRED
  • Valid Driver License

Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

  • Thorough knowledge of techniques, methods, and materials used in wastewater collection system odor and corrosion control
  • Thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies in wastewater collection system odor and corrosion control
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MUTCD, and related safety laws
