Construction Materials Technician

Job Description

Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment tasks under general supervision and established procedures. Operate testing equipment and conduct materials testing, including soil, concrete, and other materials. Prepare reports and assess collected data while working with drawings, specifications, and diagrams. Follow defined methods to observe site activities and complete assigned tasks. Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results.

Maintain thorough documentation and records of tests. Utilize a calculator to perform mathematical calculations and communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders. Adhere to all safety practices and policies to ensure a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct materials testing for soil, concrete, and other materials.

+ Prepare detailed reports and analyze collected data.

+ Work with technical drawings, specifications, and diagrams.

+ Observe site activities and complete tasks as assigned.

+ Provide detailed observations and interpretations of test results.

+ Maintain comprehensive documentation and records.

+ Perform mathematical calculations using a calculator.

+ Communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.

+ Ensure adherence to safety practices and policies.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in field construction materials testing and/or inspection for two or more years.

+ Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

+ Proficiency in basic math, calculator use, and computer applications.

+ Ability to read and understand work plans.

+ Availability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

+ Valid driver's license with a reliable driving record.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Relevant external or task-specific certifications may be required depending on region or state.

+

Experience with ACI, concrete, testing, materials testing, concrete testing, asphalt, concrete inspection, NICET, and nuclear density gauge.

Work Environment

The position requires working in diverse environments, including construction sites, where safety gear and adherence to safety protocols are mandatory. The role may involve flexible working hours and occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
