A well‑established consulting firm is seeking a Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) Engineer to join its growing Nashville, Tennessee office. This is a mid‑ to senior‑level role offering the opportunity to provide technical leadership, mentor staff, and work directly with clients on meaningful water resources projects.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with deep expertise in hydrology and hydraulics, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset. You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality technical solutions while supporting business development and team growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Lead and manage hydrology and hydraulics projects from planning through completion for public- and private‑sector clients.
- Provide technical direction and quality control for hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including flood studies and stormwater evaluations.
- Perform and oversee modeling using HEC‑HMS and HEC‑RAS (1D/2D) for watershed, drainage, floodplain, and infrastructure projects.
- Review and approve technical reports, calculations, models, and design documents to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to best practices.
- Mentor and supervise junior and mid‑level engineers, supporting professional development and maintaining a collaborative team culture.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to clients, agencies, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsiveness, technical excellence, and trust.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, assisting with proposals, and leveraging professional relationships.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with regulatory agencies to support permitting and compliance.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project‑related activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related ABET‑accredited discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, or water resources engineering.
- Prior consulting experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading technical teams.
- Advanced proficiency with HEC‑HMS and HEC‑RAS (1D/2D) is required.
- Experience with GIS and other hydrologic/hydraulic or stormwater modeling tools (e.g., SWMM, Storm
CAD) is a plus. - Familiarity with civil and horizontal infrastructure projects such as stormwater systems, flood control, and watershed management.
