Overview

HDR Engineering is seeking a Data Center Substation Physical Designer to join our Power Delivery team, focusing on mission-critical data center projects. This role offers growth opportunities for individuals with experience in high voltage substation design and CAD drafting.

Responsibilities

Perform independent substation design tasks, including CAD drawings, model development, and field reviews.

Create physical substation drawings such as General Arrangements, Grounding & Conduit Plans, and Foundation Plans.

Develop material lists with detailed specifications.

Conduct basic electrical calculations and support engineering teams.

Adhere to client standards and exercise judgment on design criteria.

Communicate effectively with project teams and clients.

Qualifications

Associate degree or technical certification, combined with relevant experience.
At least 5 years of experience in substation CAD layout and design.
Experience with high voltage substation components and drawings.
Knowledge of applicable codes (NESC, IEEE, NEC).
Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience in protection and control systems design.
Proficiency with 3D design software and document management tools.
