We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Pipe Foreman to lead field piping crews on municipal water and wastewater treatment projects throughout the Nashville area. This position will play a key role in the successful execution of underground utility, yard piping, process piping, and plant infrastructure work on both active treatment plant upgrades and new construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience installing and leading crews on waterline, sewer, storm, ductile iron, PVC, HDPE, RCP, process piping, and underground utility scopes within water or wastewater treatment environments. This individual must be safety‑focused, production‑driven, and comfortable working with a self‑performing GC on technically demanding municipal infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead daily field operations for water/wastewater piping crews on treatment plant and utility projects.
- Supervise pipe crews, operators, laborers, and subcontractors as needed.
- Plan daily work activities to meet production goals, project schedules, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Managers, survey/layout teams, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
- Read and interpret project plans, specifications, utility drawings, and pipe layout details.
- Ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and in accordance with project requirements.
- Oversee and participate in installation of key scopes including underground yard piping for WTP/WWTP facilities.
- Waterline, sanitary sewer, force main, storm drain, and process piping.
- Ductile iron, PVC, HDPE, RCP, carbon steel, and stainless piping systems.
- Valves, fittings, hydrants, manholes, vaults, meters, and related utility structures.
- Pipe bedding, trenching, excavation, shoring, backfill, and compaction.
- Tie‑ins, bypass pumping coordination, testing, flushing, and commissioning support.
- Promote and enforce a safety‑first culture across all field activities.
- Lead daily toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and pre‑task planning.
- Ensure trench safety, confined space, excavation, rigging, and equipment operations meet OSHA and company standards.
- Inspect work in progress to confirm compliance with plans, specs, and quality expectations.
- Identify field issues early and communicate solutions to the Superintendent or Project Manager.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Track daily production, installed quantities, crew hours, equipment usage, and material needs.
- Help develop and execute short‑term lookahead schedules.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and manpower planning.
- Identify obstacles that could impact production or sequencing.
- Support schedule recovery efforts when required.
- Maintain accurate daily reports and field documentation.
- Serve as a key field leader between crews, Superintendents, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate pipe installation around concrete structures, mechanical equipment, electrical duct banks, and other active scopes.
- Work effectively in active plant environments while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.
- Communicate clearly with field leadership on progress, issues, safety concerns, and upcoming needs.
- Support testing, inspections, start‑up, and system turnover activities.
- 5+ years of experience in underground utilities, water/wastewater piping, or heavy civil pipe installation.
- Previous experience as a Pipe Foreman, Utility Foreman, Crew Lead, or senior pipe layer.
- Experience working on water treatment, wastewater treatment, pump station, or municipal utility projects.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, trench safety, pipe installation, backfill, and testing procedures.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, utility drawings, and grade/elevation information.
- Experience leading crews and coordinating daily field production.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
- Experience with a self‑performing General Contractor.
