Senior Mechanical Engineer – Automation Machine Design

Location: McEwen, TN (approximately 60 miles west of Nashville)

Onsite Position

We're hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of custom automated machinery and manufacturing systems.

This is an opportunity to work on complex automation projects from concept through installation while collaborating with customers, controls engineers, manufacturing teams, and project managers to deliver innovative automation solutions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Proven experience designing custom automated machinery from concept through installation
  • Experience in automation, custom machinery, OEM equipment, or systems integration environments
What You’ll Do
  • Lead the mechanical design of custom automation equipment and machinery
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs using Solid Works
  • Design systems incorporating robotics, servo motion, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Review customer requirements and develop innovative machine concepts
  • Perform engineering calculations, stress analysis, and component sizing
  • Lead design reviews and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams
  • Support machine build, testing, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Drive design improvements, standardization, and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
