LocationTennessee—primarily Nashville, with flexibility to work in Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Nashville. Travel to the Knoxville office may be required.
Responsibilities- Lead roadway design projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with technical specialists in roads, bridges, structures, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, and public transit.
- Review draft designs for regulatory alignment and update design requirements as necessary.
- Conduct site reviews and inspections of transportation structures to guarantee construction quality.
- Work closely with sales staff to develop proposals that meet client needs and foster strong client relationships.
- Attend conferences and symposia to stay current on industry trends and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Perform domestic and/or international travel as required by the role.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license.
- Ten years of related experience, or an equivalent amount of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.).
