CMTA, a Legence Company
CMTA is one of the fastest growing engineering firms in the U.S., with nationally recognized expertise in sustainable, high-performance building engineering. We are a collaborative, innovative, and energetic team that leverages a data-driven, holistic approach to consulting engineering, performance contracting, and zero energy projects. We focus on finding engineers whose skills and personalities drive them to excel, fostering a workplace that provides unparalleled growth and career opportunities.
The core business of our Energy Solutions division is the delivery of Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs). These contracts provide a budget-neutral or budget-positive way to upgrade and renovate facilities by diverting existing utility spend into facility improvements. The process includes scope development, design, bidding, construction management, commissioning, measurement and verification, and ongoing energy management services. We have experience designing some of the nation’s most energy efficient and zero-energy buildings.
CMTA Energy Solutions offers a robust co‑op program for college students in Mechanical Engineering. The program spans two or more semesters and builds competitive industry skills through hands‑on project tasks with full‑time engineers supervised by Professional Engineers. Co‑ops work on multiple ESPCs from initial development to implementation, gaining experience in energy savings calculations, renovation documentation, and field work. Mechanical co‑ops will gain experience with photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems such as geothermal, and building automation systems, positioning them for future roles in the energy services industry.
