The Cutting Tool Designer is responsible for initiating and completing the concept design phase for special form tools, complex indexable cutting tools, and inserts. This includes producing detailed drawings and defining production routings for tooling used across various industries. The role involves close collaboration with Sales, Production, and Customers to ensure tooling is designed and delivered accurately and on schedule.

• Design and quote custom form tools, inserts, and CBN, PCD, SCD and indexable cutting tools.
• Collect data by interfacing with customers and sales reps to help choose appropriate tool types.
• Gather manufacturing and engineering data to evaluate production feasibility and provide accurate quotations.
• Communicate with customers about quotations, applications and design engineering.
• Assist inside sales with order processing, phone calls, and mail during high load periods.
• Request material quotes when needed.
• Modify existing designs to incorporate engineering changes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering preferred.
• Machining experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints required.
• Solid Works/AutoCAD experience required.
• Vocational school or apprenticeship valued.
• Computer programming experience valued.

• Knowledge of cutting tool series and application.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong spatial awareness for conceptualizing complex geometry.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Light work moving objects up to 20 pounds.
