Mechanical Engineer (EIT Preferred) – Nashville, TN Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join our growing engineering team in Nashville, Tennessee. This position will be responsible for the design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, education, mixed‑use, and institutional projects. The ideal candidate will be pursuing PE licensure, possess strong technical design skills, and have experience working in a consulting engineering environment.

Typical responsibilities include HVAC design, load calculations, equipment selection, construction document production, and project coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for building projects.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Develop ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and clients.
  • Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and industry‑standard design software.
  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction administration activities.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience within the A/E consulting industry.
  • EIT certification preferred; ability to obtain PE license in the future.
  • Experience with HVAC system design and mechanical calculations.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, and applicable building codes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
