Role
Summary:
The Federal Cx Senior Project Manager leads commissioning projects of high complexity for federal clients, with primary responsibility for the design, analysis, and commissioning of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems. This role ensures Total Project Success through technical leadership, financial stewardship, and trusted client engagement, including international project assignments such as Germany.
What You'll Do:
- Provide senior leadership for federal commissioning projects from planning through closeout, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance.
- Confirm project scope, requirements, and objectives with clients and stakeholders and lead communication with the project team.
- Direct commissioning activities including commissioning narratives, prefunctional checklists, functional performance testing, training matrices, and issues tracking.
- Serve as the technical authority in the field, advising clients and supporting complex system troubleshooting.
- Plan and manage project schedules, staffing needs, and contractor coordination through design and construction.
- Lead and document site visits, field observations, seasonal testing, and warranty reviews.
- Oversee QA/QC planning and ensure compliance with building codes, federal standards, and client expectations.
- Manage project financials including budgets, fee negotiation, invoicing accuracy, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports and ensure proper documentation turnover to owners.
- Mentor, train, and evaluate Project Manager I and II staff assigned to projects.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, proactively identifying risks and resolving issues to protect SSR and client outcomes.
Who We're Looking For:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Ten or more years in managing commissioning projects for mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for buildings; healthcare facility experience is highly beneficial.
- Registered Professional Engineer required.
- Prior experience with DoD projects is preferred; knowledge of associated standards, procedures, and regulations is highly beneficial.
- Must either hold a current Commissioning Authority (CxA) Certification or obtain it within the first three months of employment.
- Will be expected to apply and maintain a work VISA with company support.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and required foreign work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving as a senior client-facing commissioning leader in federal or international environments.
- Strong command of commissioning standards, project delivery best practices, and building codes.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop commissioning professionals.
- Comfortable supporting international travel assignments, including extended deployments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
