Job Description

The Director Solutions Design is a supporting leadership role that is aligned by either industry verticals or by design discipline and helps manages the new business pursuit team and individual opportunities. The incumbent will manage a sub-set of pursuit team members to help successfully lead the pursuit from start to finish throughout the various stages of the pursuit all the way through successful transition during startup.

He/She will lead and manage a sub-set of SD team members and/or specializes in a select design discipline (transportation, warehousing or network design). They will develop overall pursuit response strategy and how to respond to the client and will develop, mentor & advise a sub-set of SD team members on modeling and design techniques to create, re‑design, or optimize logistics networks.

The incumbent will act as a specific solution design specialist and customer‑focused leader. They will effectively communicate the design and solution to internal stakeholders & the client using advance analytical techniques and concepts to understand the business. Ryder's Solution Design (SD) associates are responsible to support the growth of our Supply Chain Solutions & Dedicated Transportation Solution offerings by developing, designing and winning new business through: designing solutions that deliver financial value to our Customers, demonstrating an understanding of our Customer's business, providing feasible designs that are aligned with our Customer's needs, helping the pursuit team with shaping wins plans consistent with our solution design, providing sustainable designs that are aligned with Ryder's operational & technical capabilities, writing and delivering a compelling proposal that influences the customer decision to select Ryder, and supporting awarded business throughout the startup process, successfully transitioning design and proposal assumptions to Operations and SCE CI resources through the Customer Due Diligence process.

They develop overall pursuit response strategy, mentor sub‑team members on modeling and design techniques, communicate solutions internally and to clients using analytical techniques, and support the growth of Supply Chain Solutions & Dedicated Transportation Solutions.

Essential

Functions
  • Support the bid submission process by reviewing RFP documents, understanding objectives, developing questions to clarify gaps and developing initial hypothesis specific to a solution design that solves our customer's needs & delivers unique value.
  • Meet frequently with customers and cross‑functional bid response team. Support technical review presentations and design validation meetings.
  • Lead consulting projects that involve understanding customers’ pain‑points, developing and presenting solutions.
  • Data validation, cleansing, profiling, baseline development & defining scenarios to model.
  • Develop and improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Coaching of Solution Design team to effectively lead cross‑functional teams in the design of customized supply chain solutions, and articulating the solution, value proposition and differentiators associated with each solution. Maintain & execute formal onboarding and training programs for direct reports, indirect reports, business development team (sales), and additional functional team members as needed.   • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and facilitate collaborative planning across functional teams to improve sales effectiveness.
