Job Overview

At Enbridge, your work directly impacts the infrastructure that powers homes, businesses, and communities across North America. As a Mechanical Engineer on our Plant Technical Staff, you’ll support meaningful, hands‑on challenges beyond day‑to‑day engineering, contributing to solutions that enhance the safety, reliability, and performance of our compressor station assets. This developmental position is designed for early‑career engineers looking to grow technical expertise and gain practical experience in operations, reliability, and project support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to field personnel and support identification of process or procedural improvements.
  • Learn and apply applicable CFR 192 code requirements and operational standards.
  • Support implementation of processes, projects and procedures impacting operations.
  • Assist with applying operating procedures to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Support operational documentation and field audits.
  • Investigate failures and reliability issues, helping develop solutions.
  • Represent Operations in supporting project teams and collaborators within the Company.
  • Support the development of O&M and Capital project scopes and budgets to support ongoing operations.
  • Develop full understanding of applicable design standards and maintenance.
  • Formulate material and contractor bid specifications.
  • Create service and purchase requisitions; evaluate bids and make material and contractor selections.
  • Conduct reviews and provide approval of engineering designs and changes as part of the Management of Change (MOC) Process.
  • Review and approve gas handling procedures for operational activities.
  • Develop full understanding of compression fleet and how they are applied in system operation.
  • Provide support in emergency response situations.
Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • 2+ years of experience in the pipeline transmission industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to manage numerous projects while showcasing excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding digital literacy to use computers and applications.

Additional Assets

  • Understanding of Natural Gas operation and reliability programs.
  • Good technical background.
  • Experience in Facility Integrity, Reliability or Operations.
  • Experience leading in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of CFR 192 and other relevant codes.

Working Conditions

Work performed in typical office environment with large amounts of field time to support Area Operations. May spend up to 35% travel time, generally one full week at a time. Exposure to hot or cold weather, noise, and construction sites. Extensive driving may be required.

Physical Requirements
  • Grasping, kneeling, light–moderate lifting (up to 20 pounds).
  • Reaching above shoulder.
  • Repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing.
  • Visual ability to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print.
  • Hearing requirement and ability to sit at a computer for long periods.
Mental Requirements
  • Understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions.
  • Organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.
  • Prioritize work schedule on a short‑term basis.
  • Make decisions with moderate impact on immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area.
  • Complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports.
  • Communicate with individuals via telephone.
