- Developing and implementing improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (productivity) in the Decatur Multi-Layer Optical Film (MOF) production areas.
- Assisting local and global manufacturing teams on rapid resolution of issues and complaints; including root cause analysis, timely response, communication, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Leading efforts to scale‑up new products and work on cross‑functional teams.
- Using Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement tools to drive improvements.
- Developing training, process standards, and other documentation supporting the operation of production lines.
- Covering production and experimental runs in a 24/7 manufacturing environment as needed.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
- An internship or one (1) year of experience in a private, public, government, or military environment in one or more of the following areas: process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, process development or quality.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
- Three years experience in private, public, government, or military environment in one or more of the following areas: process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, process development or quality.
- Experience in batch extrusion, film making, coating, and/or winding.
- Strong organization, communication, project management, and coaching skills.
- Six Sigma or Quality Improvement training/certification.
- Experience working on cross functional teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Project management experience.
