Role Description
Senior Bridge Engineer – Nashville, TN. Support and deliver bridge projects across Tennessee and the broader region, serving as a technical lead and mentor to junior staff and CAD technicians.
Role Accountabilities- Lead and deliver bridge and structural projects (new design, inspection, repair, rehabilitation), providing technical direction while overseeing plans, calculations, specifications, and QA/QC compliance with DOT and AASHTO LRFD standards.
- Apply deep expertise in bridge design and analysis using Bentley Open Bridge Designer, MIDAS Civil, AASHTO BrR, MathCAD, and CADD platforms (Micro Station, Open Bridge Modeler, Civil 3D) to develop high-quality engineering solutions.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with full accountability for technical delivery, schedule, budget, and risk, ensuring efficient execution and high-performance outcomes.
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, developing junior engineers and fostering a collaborative, high‑performing project environment.
- Perform and oversee bridge inspections and load ratings, delivering accurate reports and actionable recommendations aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, cost‑effective solutions, while effectively communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Support business development and growth initiatives, including proposals, scope/fee development, and client engagement; represent the firm in client meetings, industry organizations, and conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of bridge design experience.
- Experience working with state DOT standards (TDOT or comparable DOT experience preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Tennessee or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience with Design‑Build delivery methods.
- Bridge inspection certification (NBIS or equivalent).
