Position: Civil Engineer 5-Transit Site/Civil

Job Description

We are seeking a hands‑on Site/Civil Transit Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of transit and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce complete PS&E and construction drawing packages, including plan and profile sheets, typical sections and site‑specific details, utility coordination and relocation drawings, and signing & striping, ADA ramp details and staging plans.
  • Develop bid‑ready construction packages, respond to contractor questions during procurement, and support QA/QC reviews and agency feedback cycles.
  • Perform detailed site civil design, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility layout, pavement design, curb and gutter, and earthwork calculations.
  • Develop erosion control plans, stormwater BMPs, and site‑specific construction details.
  • Support transit‑related infrastructure such as stations, facilities, corridors, and related site elements.
  • Apply advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D capabilities with surfaces, alignments, corridors, pipe networks, grading objects, and coordinate grading and stormwater modeling.
  • Efficiently manage corridor, surface, and data management; utilize model‑based plan production and manage sheet sets to support PS&E delivery.
  • Develop engineer’s cost estimates (OPCC and PS&E level), prepare technical specifications, and coordinate with utilities, municipalities, and agencies throughout design.
  • Support QA/QC reviews and address comments during agency review cycles.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on project demands.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience producing complete PS&E / construction drawing packages, including plan, profile, typical sections, and details.
  • Utility coordination drawings and experience with signing & striping, ADA ramp details, and staging plans.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surfaces, corridors, alignments, pipe networks, and grading objects.
  • Efficient model‑based plan production and sheet set management.
  • Strong experience developing engineer’s cost estimates (OPCC, PS&E level) and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with state DOT and municipal design standards and ability to adapt to new agency criteria.
  • Experience supporting projects through design development, QA/QC, and agency review cycles.
  • Experience in site civil design, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility layout.
  • Pavement design, curb, gutter, and earthwork calculations.
  • Advanced Civil 3D capabilities in complex grading scenarios, pipe network and stormwater modeling coordination, and corridor & surface management.
  • Experience developing site‑specific construction details, erosion control plans, and stormwater BMPs.
  • Familiarity with TDOT, municipal, and utility provider standards for permitting and design.
  • Experience preparing bid‑ready construction packages and responding to contractor questions during procurement.
Skills & Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
