MNEXT is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician / Project Engineer to support construction materials testing and inspection projects in the Nashville area. This role combines field inspection responsibilities with coordination of small technician teams, supporting quality assurance for construction projects.
The position is ideal for either an experienced senior technician with strong field knowledge or an early‑career engineer with 2–3 years of experience in construction materials testing or inspection. The selected candidate will perform technical inspections while also assisting with field coordination and mentoring junior technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform field inspections and construction materials testing in accordance with project plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Document construction activities, testing results, and field observations through daily reports and project records.
- Observe contractor operations to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate and support the work of field technicians assigned to projects.
- Communicate with contractors, project managers, and engineering staff regarding inspection results and field conditions.
- Assist with construction documentation including measurements, quantity tracking, and testing records.
- Ensure all testing and inspection activities are conducted in accordance with company and project safety standards.
- Support project managers and engineers with field data collection and project coordination as needed.
- Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, not limited to other functional areas to cover absences and relief.
- Experience in construction materials testing, construction inspection, or geotechnical/construction services.
- Current construction materials testing certifications, including ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician and at least one soils or earthwork‑related certification such as ICC Soils Special Inspector, ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of construction inspection practices and field testing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and testing standards.
- Familiarity with field practices such as proof rolls, reinforcing steel (rebar) inspections, subgrade evaluation, and concrete sampling and fabrication of test specimens (cylinders or beams).
- Ability to coordinate the work of 2–3 technicians on active construction sites and provide field guidance as needed.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including preparation of daily field reports and inspection records.
- Ability to work independently in a field environment while collaborating with project managers and engineering staff.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, lifting testing equipment, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
