Mid & Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer – Sectors

Position Overview

As a mechanical design engineer at Henderson Engineers, you will specialize in HVAC design across several markets, including business, community, grocery & distribution, health, retail, and venue. You will perform calculations, prepare detailed mechanical system layouts, and work with project teams on refrigeration design needs, integrating technical expertise with field experience from Henderson Building Solutions.

• Perform calculations and design basic to advanced engineering systems independently.
• Prepare mechanical system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
• Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Conduct research, recommend system feasibility, and evaluate products.
• Develop, establish, and maintain relationships with strategic partners and customers to support business development.
• Learn and stay current with industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office.
• Support project coordination: manage emails, coordinate scope and schedule, attend client meetings, ensure project quality, respond to client questions, and coordinate project delivery.
• Act as a resource for training or assisting others as needed.

Mid Level – II

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering preferred and 3 years of relevant experience, or 5 years without a degree. A Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of experience.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).

Experienced Level – III

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering preferred and 7 years of relevant experience, or 9 years without a degree. A Professional Engineering (PE) license may count toward 1 year of experience.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).

• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Completion of the FE exam, LEED, and/or WELL accreditation.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards applicable to a range of practices, project or program types.
