Qualifications

Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to five or more years of increasingly responsible or skilled full‑time mechanical or electrical work.

Substitution of Education for

Experience:

Additional qualifying coursework from an accredited college, university, technical institute or vocational school in electrical technology, mechanical technology, engineering or other related acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year‑for‑year basis, for a maximum of two years.

Necessary Special Qualifications
  • Must possess a DOD Security Clearance within one year of being hired.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Overview

Under general supervision, manages building monitoring systems in support of the energy management program and performs related work as required. Creates purchase order requests and obtains approval signatures. Monitors HVAC and lighting systems to reduce energy cost and usage for Tennessee Army National Guard facilities. Position is a Specialist level in the Energy Series.

Responsibilities
  • Manages daily operations of Schneider Building Management System I/NET and Eco Struxure platforms for HVAC controls statewide, and weekly operations of Lighting Control Systems at facilities including the Autani platform at Nashville Joint Forces Headquarters Mott Building and Nashville Building 100 Second Floor. Keeps HVAC, lighting control platforms, and solar monitoring systems updated and reports abnormal readings to supervisor.
  • Monitors solar photovoltaic (PV) generation at Nashville JFHQ parking canopies, VTS Smyrna parking canopies at Buildings 200, 250, and 500, five readiness centers, and Mount Carmel AFRC and FMS using inverter vendor monitoring platform weekly. Monitors solar‑powered outdoor pole lighting via cellular uplink for battery status and operational efficiency at readiness centers, Field Maintenance Shop, and Volunteer Training Sites. Reports abnormal readings and creates quarterly solar PV energy production reports for AEWRS reporting.
  • Performs Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) on assigned projects to evaluate energy cost over the useful life of a project/facility.
  • Provides completed Purchase Order P‑5 request form for approval signatures to repair HVAC control systems and pay utility costs at Fort Campbell facilities and Millington Readiness Center.
  • Writes scopes of work and material specifications within 10 working days after project scope is determined by Construction Facilities Management Office (CFMO) staff, and provides these documents to CFMO, external contractors, vendors, and co‑workers for energy‑related projects.
  • Provides drawings, utility bills, or other documents for energy audits or energy‑related projects at the request of the Energy Manager or CFMO staff.
  • Coordinates repairs of equipment, firmware updates, security updates, and patches with contractors for wireless cellular monitoring systems of HVAC controls and lighting controls.
