, you'll support federal, state, and local infrastructure projects across our Environmental Planning & Permitting team, including transportation programs that help shape the future of communities throughout the Southeast.
In this role, you'll contribute to the successful delivery of environmental planning and compliance services for complex infrastructure projects. Working alongside planners, scientists, engineers, and communications professionals, you'll help guide projects through the environmental review process, develop high-quality NEPA documentation, coordinate with agencies and stakeholders, and support project teams in achieving regulatory compliance while advancing client objectives.
What you'll do
- Serve as an environmental project lead and/or NEPA discipline lead for federal, state, and local infrastructure projects.
- Prepare NEPA documentation, including Categorical Exclusions (CEs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to evaluate alternatives and develop avoidance and minimization measures for environmental and community impacts.
- Lead or support public involvement, stakeholder engagement, and agency coordination activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare technical studies and environmental compliance documentation.
- Assist with the development and review of scopes of work, project schedules, cost estimates, and technical proposals.
- Manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
- Support planning, engineering, and construction projects for transportation and other public-sector clients.
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a NEPA Analyst supporting transportation infrastructure projects.
- Experience successfully navigating the NEPA process and relevant Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) or other state DOT environmental procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of NEPA and applicable environmental regulations, including Section 4(f), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, and other relevant environmental requirements.
- Experience managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Experience leading environmental project teams and coordinating environmental efforts with project designers.
Ideally, you'll also have
- Master's degree in Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong familiarity with regional Southeast DOT environmental procedures.
- Experience with state and federal environmental permitting requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental reporting procedures for TDOT projects.
- Established working relationships with agencies such as TDOT, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
- Experience leading environmental teams on Design-Build transportation projects.
