Our Building Enclosure team specializes in the performance, durability, and integrity of exterior building systems including roofs, walls, windows, and waterproofing. This internship offers exposure to a growing discipline that bridges architecture, structural engineering, and materials science—ideal for students interested in building science and building performance.

  • Help review architectural drawings and specifications for compliance with best practices and performance criteria.
  • Participate in enclosure testing procedures, including water infiltration testing, infrared thermography, and air barrier evaluations.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, inspection checklists, and field documentation.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and SSR design teams to resolve enclosure challenges.
  • Apply industry standards and SSR policies under the guidance of project leads; document work with accuracy and completeness.
  • Attend team meetings; capture notes, actions, and due dates; follow up to keep tasks moving.
  • Seek opportunities to expand knowledge and skills; share recent developments or coursework insights with the team.
  • Participate in internal/external trainings, lunch‑and‑learns, and site walks to build practical experience.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and peers; ask questions proactively and elevate blockers early.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Pursuing a degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of sophomore year or higher by the start of the internship.
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in building systems, materials, and performance.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or Bluebeam is a plus.
  • Willingness to perform field work in various environmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Clear written communication and presentation skills; strong speech clarity.
  • Judgment and decision‑making, with attention to detail and follow‑through.
  • Positive interpersonal collaboration and professionalism in team settings.
What We Offer
  • Paid overtime and a housing allowance provided for interns who do not reside near any of our office locations.
  • Exposure to a specialized and high-demand area of building design and consulting.
  • Hands‑on experience with field inspections, diagnostic testing, and forensic analysis.
  • Mentorship from experienced enclosure professionals and cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
