Senior Waste Management Specialist Energy

We are seeking a Senior Waste Management Specialist Energy, to join our team in our Oak Ridge, TN office. Your role Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk. Complies with DOT regulations, EPA regulations and DOE Orders as applicable. Reviews existing procedures and prepares revisions and checklist updates to incorporate regulatory requirements and changes as well as customer driven revisions.

Makes waste packaging determinations. Performs marking, labeling, and placarding determinations. Calculates radionuclide and other hazardous material inventories for packages and conveyance. Provides guidance and oversight for loading, handling, segregation, and securement of loads. Prepares shipping papers/records and waste manifests in accordance with state and federal regulations. Interfaces with onsite and offsite treatment, storage and disposal units for acceptance of various waste streams for treatment and/or disposal including development of waste profiles and related documentation.

Teams and interfaces with treatment, storage, disposal, generators and/or other customers and regulators to resolve specific waste management related concerns. Responsible for total asset visibility of all waste and shipment containers and maintains drum inventory database. Anticipates requirements and orders required items for waste management. Supports Operations with all waste management, RCRA, and thorium product shipment activities. Works under general supervision.

Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture. Performs other duties as assigned.

About you Bachelor of Engineering or related Science degree required or equivalent experience. Q Clearance or the ability to obtain a Q Clearance. Requires ten (10) years’ experience conducting onsite waste shipping manifests and waste characterization. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office. Strong communication, verbal and written skills. Detailed knowledge of state and federal transportation and environmental regulations (WAC, FMSCA, RCRA, CERLA, and TSCA).

Organized and disciplines approach to documentation, development, maintenance and tracking of waste activities. Proficiency with eMWaste database. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. U.S. citizenship required for Isotek Systems, LLC, project positions. Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
