Our family-owned and operated manufacturing client in Nashville has been delivering quality products and exceptional service for over 50 years. We have been engaged to recruit the next head of Finance for this financially secure (no debt!) and growing company.
In this hands-on financial executive role reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations and providing critical analysis, management reporting, planning, and strategic financial support for the business.
The OpportunityThe Controller serves as the head of Finance and will oversee the accounting and finance functions for our client. Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will carry out accounting objectives in conjunction with corporate directives. In addition, this role will provide analysis, management reporting, planning, and financial support for the business.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with CEO and other executives to LMA (Lead, Manage and hold Accountable) the development and execution of the company's business objectives
- Lead monthly close process, including review of financials
- Drive decisions with reporting insights; proactively support business leaders by identifying opportunities to increase profitability
- Oversee and manage general accounting functions
- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls and other related compliance and financial procedures
- Make recommendations on efficiencies, reduce cycle times and improve customer satisfaction
- Responsible for reviewing inventory transactions and accuracy in support of inventory control
- Direct the development and evaluation of budgets and preparing budget reports
- Lead the minimization of costs of delivering programs while improving operating efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Support audit procedures, including completion of technical accounting needs
- Review and negotiation of key company contracts and physical assets
- Identify, develop, and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new service offerings
- Senior steward of banking, lender, audit/tax working relationships
- 5+ years of proven experience as an executive financial leader in manufacturing, sales, service, distribution or related industry
- Proven experience as a "hands on" strategic financial leader in a $200M+ organization
- Experience building, leading and developing teams
- Servant leader who empowers others and embodies strong work ethic and values, while also facilitating a high culture of accountability
- Ability to proactively bridge the gap between finance and operations to create efficiencies for accurate reporting and analysis
- Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and systems to create operational efficiencies across the company
- Experience and knowledge of ERP systems with the ability to leverage technology to gain efficiencies in the business
- Proven ability to evaluate new processes, new lines of business, technology platforms, acquisitions, and partnerships with analytics necessary to make and prioritize informed decisions
- Proven ability to create the proper financial and operational dashboards for the executive and management teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate well to all levels in the organization
- Executive presence – approachable but confident
- Must be highly detailed oriented, motivated, and self-directed
- Bachelor's degree in accounting – CPA preferred
