Role SummaryThe Financial Controller is a key leadership role responsible for theiology, reliability, and timeliness of the organization's financial reporting and operations. This individual will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards, lead process improvements, and provide strategic financial insight to guide decision–making. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with sound business acumen and leadership capabilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Compliance:
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards USA regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Manage the external audit process and oversee timely filing of tax and statutory returns.
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate risk.
- Maintain accurate documentation of financial policies and procedures.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis:
- Support the development and management of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational improvements.
- Deliver insightful reports to senior management to support strategic decisions.
Process Improvement & System Optimization:
- Streamline financial systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement and maintain financial systems (ERP) and reporting tools.
- Lead or support finance–related projects, including automation, system upgrades, and integrations.
- Partner with business units to align financial practices with strategic objectives.
- Train, develop, and mentor finance team members as needed.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA, ACCA, or relevant professional financières strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior‑level or controller role.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with financial systems (e.g., Net Suite, Quick Books, SAP, Oracle).
- Familiarity with multi‑entity or international financial reporting.
- Experience in technology or IP‑focused industries.
- Background working in high‑growth or start‑up environments.
Technical Accounting Expertise: Deep knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate into strategic insight.
Attention to Detail: Precision in financial analysis and reporting; ensures accuracy and completeness.
Financial Leadership: Guides team and senior management through financial strategy and operations.
Problem Solving: Quickly identifies financial issues and proposes actionable solutions.
Communication
