Financial Analyst

We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join a nonprofit organization in Nashville, Tennessee in a contract capacity with the potential to become permanent. This role is ideal for a finance specialist who can combine strong analytical thinking with accurate accounting support in a mission-driven environment. The position will focus on financial reporting, month-end activities, and grant-related accounting while helping leadership make informed financial decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end close activities by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and supporting timely completion of financial records.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain accurate cash reporting.
• Record accruals and journal entries with a high level of accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.
• Prepare financial statements and related schedules to support internal review and organizational reporting needs.
• Support grant accounting processes by tracking restricted funds, monitoring allowable spending, and maintaining compliance with reporting expectations.
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide insight into trends that may affect planning and performance.
• Develop ad hoc financial analyses and models to assist with budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making.
• Use financial data mining techniques to gather, organize, and interpret information from systems such as Yardi.
