CAAS Controller, Professional Service Organizations

Position Overview

As a member of CLA’s CAAS practice, you will be an integral part of the client service team and will work directly 1:1 with clients to provide customized accounting services that support them as they manage and grow their business or organization.

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurement, and investment activities for all or part of an organization.
• Prepare financial information, financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor ratios and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short‑term and long‑term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include preparing for and/or hosting board presentations.

• Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent combination of related experience, education, and training may substitute a degree.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required (logistics industry experience highly preferred).
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software and systems;
  Quick Books experience highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related applications.

This position is primarily in‑office, with local travel to client sites as needed. Occasional non‑local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings, or other business purposes may be required.

• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB / SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting.
• Strong organizational skills, goal orientation, and self‑motivation.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; clear, concise, and considerate of others’ needs.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and value diverse contributions.
• Proven success in managing work and key client relationships to exceed expectations.
