Position Overview

HFR is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Investment Analyst to support investment research, portfolio analysis, market intelligence, and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will analyze hedge funds, alternative investments, financial markets, and investment strategies while assisting with quantitative research, due diligence, performance analysis, and reporting.

The Investment Analyst will work closely with executive leadership, research teams, institutional clients, and external investment professionals to deliver high-quality analysis and actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities Investment Research
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on hedge funds, private markets, and alternative investment strategies.
  • Analyze investment managers, portfolios, and fund performance.
  • Perform manager due diligence and prepare investment research reports.
  • Monitor industry trends, economic developments, and capital markets.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and identify emerging market themes.
  • Analyze portfolio performance, risk metrics, and attribution.
  • Prepare performance reports and investment summaries.
  • Assist with benchmarking and comparative performance analysis.
  • Support portfolio construction and asset allocation research.
  • Perform statistical analysis using financial and market data.
Data & Analytics
  • Collect, validate, and analyze large financial datasets.
  • Develop Excel models and analytical tools.
  • Produce charts, dashboards, and presentations for executive leadership and clients.
  • Support data quality initiatives and research database maintenance.
  • Assist with ad hoc analytical projects.
Client & Business Support
  • Prepare institutional-quality investment reports and presentation materials.
  • Respond to client and consultant information requests.
  • Assist with RFPs, questionnaires, and investment documentation.
  • Support conferences, research publications, and marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate across research, sales, operations, and executive leadership.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and investment performance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Prefrerred
  • 2–5 years of experience in investment research, asset management, hedge funds, institutional investing, consulting, investment banking, financial analysis, or related financial services.
  • Progress toward or completion of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation.
  • Experience with hedge funds, alternative investments, or institutional portfolios.
  • Experience with financial databases such as Bloomberg, Fact Set, Morningstar Direct, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with statistical analysis or programming tools such as Python, SQL, R, or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with portfolio analytics and performance measurement.
  • Experience leveraging AI productivity tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot or ChatGPT.
