THIS POSITION FOR YOU?

We are looking for someone to work with the Collections Manager in supervising, coaching, and organizing daily activities within the Collections Department which includes collections, records, and insurance. Ensures collections policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations are being adhered to.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists the Collections Manager with scheduling and organization of department work to ensure items are being completed accurately, on schedule and within approved guidelines.
  • Assists the Collections Manager in the training and supervising of all personnel in the Collections Department.
  • Assists the Collections Manager in conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Contacts delinquent members and co-signors by telephone, text, e-mail, and mail to determine reasons for delinquency, provides counseling, and develops a plan to bring accounts to a current status.
  • Processes applications for the purpose of renegotiating debts.
  • Notes account activity in the delinquent loan system.
  • Arranges for repossession and disposal of collateral as authorized by the Collections Manager.
  • Processes bankruptcy notices and claims.
  • Assists in skip tracing and locating members with problem accounts.
  • Processes loan and share charges offs as authorized.
  • Posts transactions and recoveries.
  • Keeps the Collections Manager informed of unusual circumstances within the department and makes recommended changes in a timely manner.
  • Is knowledgeable of all government rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to the operation of all areas under the Collections Department.
  • Assists with maintaining an effective collection procedural manual.
  • Attends court hearings.
  • Oversees vehicle titles and insurance products offered by the Credit Union.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
    Education

    A high school diploma is required. College, business school or other post high school business training is preferred.

    Experience

    Prefer two years of experience in collections and or equivalent position in the collection of consumer loan accounts. Leadership or supervisory experience and other financial institution experience is preferred. Personal computer experience is required.

    Physical, mental and visual requirements

    Most of the essential functions of this position are performed while seated at a desk. Extensive telephone work is performed requiring good verbal communication skills. Much of the work is performed using a personal computer and requires good visual ability and manual dexterity. In working with repossessed collateral and foreclosed property, heavy lifting may be required t be able to move freely from one area to another, as well as occasionally travel to inspect the condition of property.

    The volume and nature of the duties of this position require the physical and mental stamina to handle multiple functions, meet required deadlines, and withstand periods of high stress.

    Other

    A valid driver's license is required as a company car is often used.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    A professional appearance and demeanor are required. Must be detailed oriented with good organizational skills. Must be an effective communicator. Strong initiative, consistency in work habits, dependability, and a positive attitude are also required. Must be able to function as a team player with the ability to coach, lead, and motivate staff. Must cooperate with co-workers, members, and business associates.
