Job Summary
A Director of Tax and Treasury professional manages an organization's cash flow, banking relationships, and tax liabilities to optimize financial health. They balance short-term liquidity with long-term financial strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations and minimizing tax burdens.
Key Responsibilities- Treasury Functions:
- Cash Management:
Monitor daily cash inflows/outflows, reconcile accounts, and forecast liquidity to avoid cash shortages. - Risk Management:
Mitigate financial risks by managing foreign exchange exposures and interest rate fluctuations through hedging programs. - Capital Structure:
Develop and execute strategies for debt/equity financing and optimize the company's investment portfolio. - Banking Relations:
Act as the primary point of contact for financial institutions and manage corporate bank accounts.
- Tax Compliance:
Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns (including sales and use tax). - Strategic Planning:
Design tax-efficient structures for international operations, mergers, acquisitions, and cross-border transactions. - Audit & Risk:
Track legislative changes, manage relationships with third-party tax advisors, and represent the company during tax audits.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, or Economics. - Certifications:
Professional credentials like a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) are highly preferred. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in ERP systems (like SAP or Oracle), Treasury Management Systems (TMS), and advanced financial modeling. - Core Competencies:
Strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of IRS and local tax codes, and excellent risk management abilities
