Role
Regional Government & Public Affairs Manager
OverviewWe are hiring for one of our prime clients seeking a Regional Government & Public Affairs Manager to lead state-level advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and public affairs strategy across the US South. This role monitors and influences legislation and regulations affecting the building materials industry, including cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, asphalt, roofing, coatings, insulation, and construction materials supply chains.
Key Responsibilities- Lead state government affairs strategy, including legislative, regulatory, and political engagement
- Track and analyze state policies impacting building materials and construction markets
- Advocate with Governors’ offices, state legislatures, agencies, and key decision-makers
- Build and maintain relationships with DOT leadership, environmental/natural resource agencies, budget/economic development offices, attorneys general, and legislative staff
- Manage external lobbyists, consultants, and association relationships, ensuring scope, performance, and budget alignment
- Represent Amrize in trade associations, business coalitions, and policy organizations
- Support state-level stakeholder engagement, community strategy, and local issue response
- Serve as a resource for operations and commercial teams on political risk, permitting support, and government engagement
- Contribute to regional political engagement strategy, including PAC/political contributions in compliance with Amrize policies
- Ensure compliance with ethics, lobbying registration, and reporting requirements
- Demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies and promote a culture of safety
- Fields of Study Preferred: Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Law, Economics, or related field
- Experience:
- 7–10+ years in state government affairs, public policy, legislative/executive branch roles, or comparable advocacy
- Proven experience influencing legislation, regulation, or agency decisions
- Experience managing lobbyists, consultants, and associations
- Preferred: Background in building materials, manufacturing, infrastructure, construction, or industrial sectors; familiarity with permitting, environmental policy, and state DOT funding
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) - Travel: Approximately 25% across the US South region
- Additional Requirements:
- Strong political judgment, relationship-building, and cross-functional partnership skills
- Ability to translate complex policy into actionable business plans
- High accountability, strong organization, and independence
