Job Summary

Leads the pharmacy team in the coordination, monitoring, and supervision of pharmacy services. This includes human resources, medication systems, and pharmaceutical care to ensure the provision of quality patient focused care that meets all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Plans and develops customer focused pharmacy systems and services for specific area to meet the changing needs of the medical enterprise.

Works with administrative team and staff to constantly innovate the method for delivery of quality cost effective pharmacy services. Manages and develops staff members to ensure competency and growth of staff. Manages budget including volumes, drug and personnel expense for a specific area.

The Evening and Night Shift Pharmacy Operations Manager at Vanderbilt University Hospital is responsible for oversight of evening and night shift pharmacy operations in Central Pharmacy, Sterile Products, and the OR and works collaboratively with the pharmacy operations managers of those defined areas to ensure continuity of service in our 24-hour operations.

  • Coordinates, monitors, and manages pharmacy operations while maintaining all safety and compliance regulations.
  • Effectively coordinates departmental resources and actively participates in stewardship and cost control initiatives.
  • Effectively manages human resources and creates an environment that enhances morale and facilitates teamwork.
  • Manages pharmacy systems and operations to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Ensures the delivery of outstanding customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Pharmacy Program Management (Advanced):

    Demonstrates ability to forecast complex resource needs, identify discrete tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work for a single functional area. Merges diverse points of view into a coalition with shared goals and objectives. Plans for and anticipates events outside of immediate responsibility. Identifies relevant stakeholders and gains their commitment. Anticipates problems and obstacles before they arise.

    Able to absorb changes to major assignments while maintaining a high level of performance. Competently handles multiple assignments and projects simultaneously. Sets priorities with a proper sense of urgency and importance. Develops creative ideas and takes innovative action to achieve planned goals and objectives.
